Email and Calendaring

This team was charged with identifying a single email and calendaring platform for faculty, staff, and students that meets the broad needs of the university.

Team members responded to questions about their project during a web chat this summer.

The Email and Calendaring team has been approved to consolidate existing email and calendaring systems across campus and adopt and implement Microsoft Office 365. The university will appreciate significant savings by avoiding duplicative operating costs on servers, software, licenses, and spam/virus protection.

Progress Update

A third-party risk assessment of the project was conducted in December 2013. The project sponsors requested that the implementation be slowed to allow for appropriate evaluation and planning to respond to the concerns raised in the risk assessment. The business owner has prepared recommendations in response to the concerns, and is again moving forward with the Office 365 implementation. An external project manager has been retained to oversee the ongoing implementation plans.
